New Kitchen Light

We did it! Neither Ryan or I could have done this without each other. But between the two of us, we managed to pull all new wire and install a brand new kitchen light. First you have to see the new wires, since my blood, sweat, and tears went into getting those there!

Thanks to a generous Christmas gift card from Ryan's brother and his wife (hi Karen!), we were able to get a very nice light/fan from Lowe's. It may seem odd to have a fan in the kitchen, but with windows and a glass door facing 3 of the 4 cardinal directions, this room gets VERY warm in the summer. We've often had to set up a portable fan to keep it comfortable in the kitchen, so installing a permanent one only made sense. The style side of me realizes that this particular fixture may be a bit too modern for our current kitchen aesthetic, but the this-is-my-house side of me doesn't really care! I love it. And even on high, the fan is almost completely silent. It's pretty cool.
